Job Description |
The Speech/Language position will serve students with speech/language needs in a variety of settings. Candidate must exhibit the ability to function as a member of an IEP team, case manage student with special education needs, and effectively communicate and collaborate with students, parents, and staff. Knowledge of current best practice in educating students with special needs.
This is a 1.0 FTE position beginning with the 2012-2013 school year. The first day of in-service will be August 28th, 2012.? |

Description |
The School District of Monroe is a K-12 student-centered school system dedicated to providing each child with a broad array of academic and cocurricular programs that will prepare him or her to succeed academically, technologically, physically and socially.
The district serves more than 2,677 elementary, middle and high school students. Classroom sizes average 20 students per teacher. A teaching staff of 271 and 196 administrative and support personnel are dedicated to creating a climate of high expectations for all students and ensuring academic excellence in all subject areas. The underlying goal of every class is to provide each student with the opportunity to achieve his or her potential through a superior education, continually preparing them for the next step in their academic lives.
Our curriculum is broad-based, reflecting an interest in the academic, social, emotional, artistic and physical development of each student. The district views education as an experience best served by the coordinated efforts of parents and schools.
The School District of Monroe encompasses three elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, an alternative charter school serving grades 9-12, and an independent virtual charter school. Included within these schools are a state-of-the-art performing arts center, an auditorium, a greenhouse, seven gymnasiums, a 400-meter eight-lane track, a football field, tennis courts, a baseball field, and several playgrounds.
